What is coaching?
A professional coach is trained to help individuals discover hidden potential as well as self-limiting behavior to reach their own personal and professional goals.
1. The coaching process supports individuals to first identify their goals — what kind of life do they want, what needs to change to get the life they want.
2. With clarity around goals, the coaching process can proceed to support the individual in defining strategies to accomplish those goals. What strategies might have already been used and aren’t working? What new strategies could be valuable?
3. The coach then supports the individual as he or she learns new strategies and adjusts them to reach the goal.
How does the coaching process work?
An initial phone call gets the process started, allowing us to make initial contact and ensure that coaching is the right solution for you. I will then send you (or ask you over the phone) a few short questions to begin our work together. Your responses will help us focus on the areas you wish to improve.
Depending on the issue, one coaching session may be all that you need. More than likely, we will agree that a few coaching sessions will help you gain clarity about your goals, decide on some strategies to use to reach your goals, and learn from your progress. Many clients find that a 1-hour session every other week gives them enough time to take some action but not too much time that they lose focus. Clients may find that just a few sessions set them on the right path while others enjoy regular coaching sessions. All of our conversations are 100% confidential. Coaching sessions are $175/hour.
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching is a process of discovering your own hidden potential as well as self-limiting or counterproductive behaviors. The coaching process holds the individual accountable for his or her own progress in not only deciding but reaching his or her own goals and creating the life he or she wants. While therapy focuses on exploring past wounds typically in the family experience, coaching is forward-looking and action-focused. In our coaching sessions, we may determine that therapy is a better course of action for you. Again, all of our conversations are 100% confidential.
